Ophelia colored version by Melimaiel Ophelia colored version by Melimaiel
UPDATE_07.03.2011:
Finally, updated with a better scan. And it truly looks much better. Not as overexposed.

Well, here is the colored version of my ophelia lineart. What shall I say? I suck at coloring and the scanner ate the colors (the quality is bad too). It didn`t exactly turn out the way I wanted it to be ^^; But yeah...

Some background info:

Ophelia is the a character from the tragedy of Hamlet, William Shakespear. She is the daughter of Polonius, who is killed by Hamlet. After her fathers dad, she gets mad and drowns herself in a brook.

Material: Van Gogh watercolor, white oil color
Time: +/- 12 hours

Hope you enjoy :)

Your art is really amazing. I love your style. The lines are really clean & crisp & your colors flow beautifully together. All of it is great, this one may be my favorite though

Hamlet is my favorite work from Shakespeare! I love that you drew Ophelia with such vibrant colors, and the tears look so realistic! You should watch the Keneth Branagh Hamlet movie. It uses all of the lines form the book, and the acting and setting are phenomenal! *u*

It's a beautiful piece...the colors looks nice on my screen although I bet the original ones were richer...that's unfortunately always the case with scanners...sigh...;)

Thank you very much :) and yeah, you are probably right about the scanners. But, I suppose some are better than others...At least I hope so :XD:

You are very much welcome.

My scanner belongs to the category of the "worse": in fact, I am now taking pictures of my drawings...I find they come out better...;)

I tried to take pictures of my drawings in the beginning, but I always have problems with the lightning ^^; I suppose I have to stick with the scanner ;P

I use the long stem alogen lamp of the living room inclined against the back of the sofa and oriented towards the drawing...it's kind of rudimentary, but it works better than the scanner for me. ;)
